# Syntopica > Syntopica is an AI-powered reading companion for serious readers. It imports your Amazon book library and Kindle highlights, then builds a thinking layer on top: reading guides for any book and synthesis across your whole library — so you can think *with* your books, not just store them. Every insight stays grounded in the highlights you actually marked, each source is labeled, and every citation links back to your own highlight. Syntopica is for readers who read to learn — it is not a social book network. The core idea is "syntopical reading" (Mortimer Adler's highest level of reading): reading many books on a subject together to construct your own understanding across them. Capture is handled by a Chrome extension ("Syntopica Importer") that imports your Amazon library and Kindle Notebook highlights; the thinking layer adds cross-book collections, grounded chat, single-book reading guides and analysis, and exportable syntopical briefs. - Canonical site: https://syntopica.ai - Chrome extension: "Syntopica Importer" on the Chrome Web Store (ID gppcjaalakkmokmjoaljckfblibkmmcp) - Operator: Skylark Creations LLC · Contact: librarian@syntopica.ai ## Start here - [Syntopica home](https://syntopica.ai): What Syntopica is — read one book deeper, or synthesize ideas across your whole library, grounded in your highlights. - [Try it — no signup](https://syntopica.ai/demo): An anonymous demo of cross-book synthesis on a sample library, with grounded, labeled citations. ## Answer pages - [What is syntopical reading?](https://syntopica.ai/syntopical-reading): The highest of Adler's four levels of reading — reading across books to build your own synthesis. What it is, the five steps, and how to do it with your own library. - [A Readwise alternative for thinking across books](https://syntopica.ai/readwise-alternative): How Syntopica differs from Readwise — synthesis across books and grounded chat, versus highlight review and spaced repetition. - [How to connect highlights across books](https://syntopica.ai/connect-highlights-across-books): How to surface where your reading agrees, disagrees, and builds on itself — semantic search across your imported Kindle highlights, grounded and cited. ## What Syntopica does - Imports your Amazon library and Kindle highlights via the Chrome extension (no manual entry, no CSV). - Reading guides (inspectional, pre-read) for any book; analytical summaries built from your highlights. - Cross-book collections grouped by theme — manual or suggested from patterns in your highlights. - Chat across a collection or a single book, grounded in your highlights with sources labeled. - Exportable syntopical briefs: a structured synthesis of themes, disagreements, and open questions. - Directed modes: Remember This Book, Study a Topic, Think Through a Problem, Read With Me. ## What Syntopica is not - Not a Goodreads-style social reading feed. - Not a spaced-repetition flashcard app (that is Readwise's strength). - Not a place that invents quotes: answers are grounded in your own highlights, each source labeled, every citation linking back to the passage you marked. ## Legal - [Privacy Policy](https://syntopica.ai/privacy) - [Terms of Service](https://syntopica.ai/terms)
